At Submarine, we are on the hunt for compelling dramas inspired by true stories or criminally overlooked events that demand to be fictionalized. Our commitment to this type of storytelling reflects our roots as a documentary production company in the Netherlands and the Emmy-winning legacy of our founder, Femke Wolting.
We are particularly interested in:
True Stories with a Crime Edge: Thrilling narratives with a global dimension. For instance, our upcoming series THE KOLLECTIVE, inspired by our documentary BELLINGCAT: TRUTH IN A POST-TRUTH WORLD, offers a fictionalized account of how the Bellingcat investigative group formed and got caught up in an international conspiracy.
Euro-Centric Crime Content: Stories that perform well in smaller markets but also have the potential for broader appeal. Our greenlit series SAFE HARBOR, from Mark Williams (OZARK), follows two Dutch/UK hackers entangled with the Irish Mafia over control of the Rotterdam ports.
Grounded Sci-Fi or Speculative Stories: Narratives exploring the impact of technology on our lives and future events.
We are also keen to discover fresh thriller series, whether domestic or featuring innovative genre-mash-ups that stand out in a crowded market.
